Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments - pre-treatment, during treatment, and aftercare advice

Here at FADE, we exclusively offer PicoSure® Pro - the world’s leading Laser Tattoo Removal technology. PicoSure® Pro specifically targets tattoo ink, without harming the surrounding tissue.

How does it work?

Older technologies heat the tattoo ink. However, our PicoSure® Pro technology works differently - the patented PressureWave™ impact from the PicoSure® Pro laser delivers ultra-short pulses of energy to the skin, breaking up the ink into tiny particles. These tiny particles are then eliminated by the body’s natural processes, giving you the best results in less time.

PicoSure® Pro is FDA approved

How to get the best results from Laser Tattoo Removal

We ask that you read through the following in order to prepare for your treatment and to ensure the best results. Any Later Tattoo Removal treatment has a range of normal side effects that you may experience, and in undergoing treatment with us, you agree to the risk of these side effects which we explain below. You can read about these in more detail here

Before your Laser Tattoo Removal treatment

  • Please avoid prolonged exposure to sun or sun-beds before your treatment, after your treatment, and throughout the healing process.

  • Please do not apply any fake tan products to the area for 1 week before your treatment.

  • If the area to be treated is covered in hair, please shave the area 1 day before treatment.

  • On the day of your treatment, please ensure that the area to be treated is free from any make-up, moisturiser, lotions, creams, deodorants or oils.

During your Laser Tattoo Removal treatment

  • As you are having your treatment, you will see superficial white frosting over the tattoo area, and you may also see blistering. Both of these effects are entirely normal and to be expected as part of a successful laser tattoo removal treatment process.

  • Some people also experience some bruising or swelling, which are also normal side effects - this is a natural response of the immune system as it is healing the affected area, and beginning to remove particles of ink.

After your Laser Tattoo Removal treatment

It is normal to have the following symptoms after your tattoo removal treatment:

  • warmth

  • slight redness

  • itchiness

  • a tingling to burning sensation

  • slight puffiness, swelling or raised skin

  • blistering or scabbing of the area

48 hours following your treatment:

  • After cleansing and while skin is still moist, apply a thin layer of Aloe Vera to the treated area.

  • Apply a non-stick pad over the tattoo until it is healed.

  • Avoid restrictive clothing or any friction around the treated area.

  • Avoid contact sports or any activity that could cause trauma to the treated area.

  • Do not apply any creams, moisturisers, oils, perfumes or lotions to the treated area.

  • Avoid using hot treatments such as saunas, jacuzzis or hot tubs/whirlpools during healing.

  • Avoid going swimming as chemicals in the water may irritate the skin or slow the healing process.

  • Cleanse the treated area at least daily with water and mild soap, and then pat dry - do not soak in water for long periods.

  • Do not shave the treated area.

  • Do not rub or scratch the area.

  • Avoid sun exposure to the treated area. Use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, ideally a mineral sunscreen containing zinc oxide. Apply to the treated area every 2 hours when exposed to the sun.

  • Do not lie in the sun or use a sun-bed as this activates the melanin in the skin and can lead to pigmentation marks.

  • Discomfort may be relieved by using cool gel packs or taking paracetamol.

  • If blistering occurs, keep the area moist by applying Aloe Vera 3 times per day, or antibiotic ointment on the recommendation of your doctor.

If the area treated feels tender or warm

  • Apply cold compresses of ice, or a pack of peas from the freezer wrapped in a clean cloth.

  • Do not apply ice directly onto the skin as this can burn.

  • Do not apply any creams/lotions to the area other than that recommended by your Clinician or GP.

For eyebrow Laser Tattoo Removal:

  • Please be aware your eyebrows can change colour after treatment.

  • If you wish to camouflage the area, apply a good quality mineral make up.

  • If the area is tender, red, blistered or infected, please contact us +353 (0)1 539 0777 or email info@fadelaser.com for a professional opinion.

  • Please note the advice above on side-effects such as blistering, scabbing etc. which apply to the eyebrow area also. The less interference with the affected area, the better it will heal and the less chance of scarring.

After 48 hours

  • We recommend that you continue to follow the advice above until you see that the area has healed and blistering has subsided. Complete healing usually occurs after approximately 2 weeks.

  • Blistering is a normal side effect of Laser Tattoo Removal, and represent a natural healing response from the body. Blisters should heal without intervention in 5-7 days.

  • If blisters are large or in the way, they may be punctured using a sterile needle to drain away some of the fluid. Do not remove the sister skin as this acts as a barrier to protect the skin, helping it heal. Keep the blister covered to avoid infection until healed.

  • If you are unsure at any stage of your healing, please contact us at +353 (0)1 539 0777 or email info@fadelaser.com and we will be happy to give you a professional opinion.

  • We ask to clients to please notify the clinic of any change in medical conditions, medication or pregnancy.

By following the above advice, you should expect to see great results from your PicoSure® Pro Laser Tattoo Removal.
